The following links lead to a sample of colleges and universities that offer degrees or training in Conflict Resolution fields or specialties. Some of the pages are further compilations of educational links, and are identified as such.

Academic Training Association (ATA) organizes large-scale summer universities in the Balkans for up to 600 participants each, including courses in Conflict Transformation. Participants from all ethnic groups living in the region are welcomed to these events, making them truly unique experiences. Teachers and students are welcome.

American University has an International Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) curriculum, which offers several masters degrees and concentrations designed to integrate theory, research and practice.

The Arthur V. Mauro Centre at St. Paul’s College, University of Manitoba, is dedicated to research, education, and outreach to foster global peace and justice. The Centre is home to the University of Manitoba’s Ph.D. Program in Peace and Conflict Studies.

Campus California TG trains volunteers for international peace positions in Africa and Central America. Volunteers take part in 14-month programs including: training in northern California, volunteering as teachers in Africa or Central America, educating on basic health and peace, and shared experience time.

Eastern Mennonite University Eastern Mennonite University’s Center for Justice and Peacebuilding (CJP), prepares and supports individuals and institutions of diverse religious and philosophical backgrounds in the creation of a just and peaceful world. CJP offers a masters-level degree and certificate, as well as non-degree training and skill-building through its annual Summer Peacebuilding Institute and its Practice Institute. The latter offers expert consultancy.

(EdNet) is a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and administered by CARANA Corporation. EdNet offers services in the following six areas: technical assistance, faculty development, intellectual exchange, administrative governance, direct support to universities, and information and communication technology (ICT). EdNet activities are also focused on three crosscutting issues, such as ethics, gender bias, and conflict mitigation.

European Peace University offers an MA and short-term training courses in Peace Studies.

Fresno Pacific University’s Center for Peacemaking and Conflict Studies offers graduate education in conflict management and peacemaking leading to the MA degree or graduate certificate. The focus is on developing practitioners; FPC also offers intervention and consulting services.

Georgetown University Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution Reinforcing the university’s traditional commitments to peace, outreach, and ethics, the program seeks to equip its graduates with the theoretical and practical tools necessary to better understand the nature of, and solutions to, many types of conflict. The program prepares students for further academic study or for careers in the rapidly growing market for specialists in the field of Conflict Resolution.

The Graduate Programs in Dispute Resolution at University of Massachusetts, Boston, offers a Master of Arts degree and a Graduate Certificate in Dispute Resolution. Students in the programs explore dispute resolution theories, debates, methodologies, and practices in Boston. The UMass programs have become a world renowned center for the study and practice of dispute resolution.

Institute for Conflict Analysis & Resolution ICAR is committed to the development of theory, research, and practice that interrupt cycles of violence. ICAR is an innovative academic resource for people and institutions worldwide. It offers PhD and MS degrees and Certificate programs.

The Institute for International Mediation and Conflict Resolution (IIMCR) is a Washington, DC based, non-profit institution which promotes the use of peaceful conflict resolution techniques among a generation of future leaders through unique programs and services.

Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, at Conrad Grebel University College, conducts research and fosters community peace education and offers a non-degree Certificate Program in Conflict Management. One or more workshops may betaken for interest only, or to obtain a Certificate in Conflict Management.

The Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego combines theory and application to advance the fields of peace and justice. The goals of the IPJ are to prepare students for careers in conflict resolution and human rights, to provide a forum for scholarly analysis of essential issues in these fields, and to link education and research with the outreach activities of the Institute.

Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, administered by American Councils for International Education: ACTR/ACCELS. It is a non-degree fellowship program for university faculty from Eurasia and Southeast Europe who teach in the humanities and social sciences.

The Mills College Public Policy Program in Oakland, California is ideal for women seeking careers in policymaking, as future leaders, decision makers, and policy analysts.

The Monterey Institute of International Studies offers a non-degree, stand-alone Certificate in International Negotiation and Conflict Resolution. The Institute also offers a thematic Specialization in this area within our MA in International Policy Studies.

The Public Dispute Resolution Program at the University of North Carolina specializes in public dialogue, mediation and cooperative planning processes, particularly involving environmental issues, with training and university courses, and field consulting.

The School for International Training — CONTACT (Conflict Transformation Across Cultures) participants explore the causes and complexities of contemporary conflict, examining methods that respond to conflict without perpetuating cycles of revenge, hostility, and division.

Social Science Research Council is one of the premier funders for linking academic and practice based research on conflict resolution issues.

UNITAR POCI provides students of all nations with self-paced distance training to prepare them to serve on peacekeeping missions. Students from 91 nations have enrolled in UNITAR POCI correspondence courses, including members of the military, diplomats, NGO employees, humanitarian workers, teachers, and citizens interested in peace.
